2.2 · Empty matter & review-table setup Phase 4A

Empty states tell the user the next action, never just “no data”. Upload + list are UI-NOW / READ-P3. Creating a review table and adding questions is the 4A schema work API-NEW.

4A
4A path, steps 2–3: bring in evidence → create a review tableadd the first question. Curated starter templates are a 4C preview convenience and are shown disabled here; in 4A you create a blank table and add questions by hand. The command palette is not in 4A.

Then start a review Phase 4A

In the first slice you create a blank review table, then add your first question by hand. No setup, no sales call.

Once the table exists you add questions (e.g. “Governing law”, “Liability cap”) and cells are generated per document × question.

Curated starter tables are a later convenience — not in 4A. Shown disabled here; build a blank table and add questions instead.

A new user can create a matter, create a blank review table, add a question, upload a document and see a populated cell with provenance in one session.

Open question (blueprint §7.5). Do templates live per-user, per-matter, or shared? “Per user” keeps onboarding simple; shared/firm templates are deferred enterprise sprawl.
